Sport Psychology

Sport psychologists are professionals who help professional and amateur athletes overcome difficulties and enhance their performance. Dr. DuBois is skilled in helping the entire athlete, from academic performance to athletic achievement. Dr. DuBois understands the specialized needs of student athletes, including the time demands of practice, play, travel, and school, as well as the competitive nature of athletics. She helps athletes reach their goals by focusing on mental health issues, stress, trauma, competition, difficult coaching interactions, overcoming injuries and transition out of sport. Dr. DuBois provides psychological evaluations, psychotherapy, and sport performance services for teams and athletes of all ages.

Dr. DuBois has extensive experience working with student athletes. She received her master’s degree in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in sport psychology from Auburn University in 2001. Her sport psychology and sport performance training and experience has included two Division I Universities (The University of Oklahoma and Auburn University) and a Division II athletic program (Nova Southeastern University), as well as many other local college and high school athletes in the DMV area. Dr. DuBois has prior experience as a Head Women's Basketball coach in Alabama at the Division II Junior College ​level.

Investment

Sport Psychology Services are an out-of-pocket expense unless an individual athlete has a diagnosable mental health concern, then parents or athletes will be provided a superbill with diagnostic criteria to provide to their insurance company for possible reimbursement.
